Sumitomo begins production of US-made Falken Tires

Sumitomo Rubber USA (SRUSA) has cured its first Falken branded tire at their plant in Buffalo, NY. It is the first Falken tire by SRUSA to be made in North America, according to the company.

Sumitomo Rubber USA CEO and chairman, and Sumitomo Rubber North America chairman Kenji Onga said: “It’s great to see the first Falken-branded tire come out of SRUSA. Due to our domestic manufacturing, the tires that come out of Buffalo will enhance the level of service and increase the speed at which product is received for our customers.”

With a US-based manufacturing plant, in addition to a private test track and advanced technical resources, SRUSA will position the Falken Tires brand among the most competitive in terms of quality, reliability and product fill times, Sumitomo Rubber USA said. Although still in trial production, the tires made from the Buffalo plant are scheduled to begin shipping in Q4 2016.

CEO and president of Sumitomo Rubber North America Richard Smallwood commented: “This event marks not only a bright future for our organization and people, but also represents years of history, dedication, hard work and perseverance from the people of this plant and their families. The future has never been full with as much potential as it is now for our plant, our brand and our employees.”
